Coordination

  • Joyce Carlo

    Latecae coordinator, works with Bioclimatic Architecture, Energy efficiency in buildings and Building energy and lighting simulation.

    She was part of the team on developing the building energy labeling of Inmetro and, in the present moment, she is a specialist in energy efficiency in buildings to the accreditation of inspection organisms of Inmetro. In research development, she works in partnerships with mechanical engineering to CFD simulation, in agricultural engineering focused on photovoltaic systems and other partnerships established by the Energy Efficiency Network (R3E).

  • Matheus Menezes Oliveira

    He holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), a master's degree and a doctorate from the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at UFV. He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture and Urbanism (DAU/UFV), specializing in Design, Technology, and Graphic Representation in Architecture and Urbanism. His expertise lies in design processes associated with bioclimatic architecture, environmental behavior in the built environment, graphic representation, thermoenergetic simulation, lighting, and user thermal comfort. Additionally, he is conducting post-doctoral research on a CNPq-funded project focusing on sustainable design technologies for adapting school buildings to climate change.

  • Caio de Carvalho Lucarelli

    Doctoral Candidate and CAPES scholarship holder of the Architecture and Urban Planning Graduate Program at the Federal University of Viçosa (PPG.au - Technologies and Environmental Aspects in the Built Environment) with the research "Thermal, Luminous, and Ventilation performance of a Solar Control Canopy developed with Generative Processes and Digital Fabrication" (2020-2024). Master of Architecture and FAPEMIG scholarship holder of the PPG.au. Architect and Urban Planner, graduated from Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV) (2017/2), with exchange experience in Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) (2014-2015). Awarded with Arthur Bernardes Medal for Excellence (UFV) and consistently on the Dean's List (SCAD).

  • Olga Moraes Toledo

    Researcher at the Department of Architecture and Urbanism of the UFV. She has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (1988), a master's degree in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2004) and a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Viçosa (2010), where she also did post-doctoral studies. He did postdoctoral studies in Agricultural Engineering at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, USA.  He has experience in the Energy field, working mainly on the following topics: renewable energy, energy storage, distributed generation, performance evaluation, artificial intelligence, and solar photovoltaics.

  • Rafael de Paula Garcia

    Degree in Mathematics (UFV), Master of Computational Modeling (UFJF) and PhD in Civil Engineering (COPPE / UFRJ), with concentration in Computational Systems. Sandwich period in the Computer Science department at Università degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza during his doctorate. He is a Professor in the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Viçosa, teaching in Graphic Representation courses. He is interested in research areas related to the theories and applications of optimization (especially those involving the use of evolutionary metaheuristics) and machine learning.

  • Ligiana Pricila Guimarães Fonseca

    Master's in Architecture and Urbanism from UFV with a project titled "Optimization of the Volume of a Building with Multifaceted Facades and Its Relationship with the Surroundings for Distributed Photovoltaic Generation and Energy Consumption." Currently a PhD student and CAPES scholarship holder in the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at the same institution. Aspiring black belt in forró. She was a scientific initiation researcher at the laboratory from 2011 to 2016, where she developed and/or worked on projects such as "Didactic Tools to Support Courses in the Area of Environmental Comfort"; Study of the Aspects of Solar Radiation Affecting Thermal Performance and Comfort in the Built Environment; and Digital Modeling of Architectural Projects Based on Energy and Structural Performance. She holds a bachelor's degree in Architecture and Urbanism from UFV with a sandwich period at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY, through the Science Without Borders program.

  • Marcio Henrique do Sacramento Candido

    Architect and urban planner from the Federal University of Viçosa (2023). Master's degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Viçosa (2023-2025). He is currently a PhD student in the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Viçosa (2025-2029), linked to Research Line 3: Production of Building and Urban Space in Small and Medium-sized Cities, and participates as a member of the Laboratory of Technologies in Environmental Comfort and Energy Efficiency (Latecae-UFV) and as a partner of the Research Laboratory in Urbanities and Heritage (Pupa-UFV) and the Urban Planning and Design Research Group. He has experience in Architecture and Urbanism, working on the following subjects: urban and regional planning, urban policies, urban management, cultural heritage, urban comfort, urban morphology, climate change scenarios and architectural design.

  • Mariana Navarro Benevides

    Architect and Urban Planner graduated from Universidade de Fortaleza (UNIFOR). She worked at the Landscape Laboratory as a student-researcher on the compositions of Burle Marx and in landscaping using native species of Ceará. She has a sandwich degree at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Chicago / IL, where she developed research on the abandoned allotments in Milwaukee and Mies Van der Rohe projects for Chicago. She holds a Specialization in the Graduate Program in Sustainability Applied to the Built Environment at the University of Minas Gerais, focusing on environmental comfort, thermal performance, and sustainable forms of construction.

  • Saraline Eduarda da Silva

    Master's in Architecture and Urbanism from UFV since 2023, with a bachelor's degree from the same institution (2021). Started research in 2017-2018 through Scientific Initiation and presented the work "Green Infrastructure as a Mitigation Strategy for Local Water Issues" at the ARQUISUR congress in 2021, co-authored with Professor Roberto de Almeida Goulart Lopes. In the master's program, focused on green infrastructures and their impacts on urban microclimate regarding climate change. Published articles at events such as ENTAC 2024 and the V Seminar on Cities, Territories, and Rights, discussing microclimatic analyses and urban public policies. Interested in climate-sensitive urban planning, microclimatic simulations, and urban green infrastructure.

  • João Pedro Martins Pereira

    Master's and graduate in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). He was a scholarship researcher in Technological and Industrial Initiation (ITI-A) in the CNPq project "Technologies for adapting buildings to climate change: energy efficiency, photovoltaic generation, and emission reduction in schools." He is currently a CAPES scholarship holder for 2024-26, developing research titled 'Evaluation of the influence of phase change materials on thermal comfort in a monitored performance space in Viçosa-MG.

     

  • Manuela Furtado Campos

    Master's student in Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV) with research on internal environmental monitoring of EDEM aimed at the thermal energy performance of a building. Architect and Urban Planner graduated from the Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ), 2023. She was a member of the Architectural and Urban Accessibility Group (GRAAU) working at the UFSJ campus City Hall and served as a monitor in the Topography and Cartography course of the Architecture and Urbanism program at UFSJ. She worked at the Municipal City Hall of Carangola providing advisory services and architecture and urbanism projects (2021-2024), also serving as a Counselor on the Municipal Deliberative Council for Cultural Heritage of Carangola.

  • Alexandre Cypreste Amorim

    Professor of  IFES Colatina - ES, his Marters Major was adquired in 2015 in PPGAU/UFV. His research focused on an analysis of weather files  and the current (from 2011 to 2017) review f the Brazilian Climate Zones. He is the first author of the paper Analysis of the Brazilian bioclimatic zoning: case study of Colatina, ES.

  • Andrea Carpenter Costa dos Santos da Paixão

    She holds a master's degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the PPGAU and defended her dissertation entitled Typological characterization of bank branches and their potential for saving electricity and labeling with the implementation of photovoltaic systems in the project Energy efficiency evaluations of buildings based on Inmetro's Brazilian labeling program.

    Scientific initiation researcher, R3E scholarship holder, working on the labeling simplification project with master's student Carolina de Paula Telles. Her activities include proposing typologies and testing the proposal.

  • Camila Carvalho Ferreira

    Post-doctoral researcher at the Federal University of Viçosa by the PPGAU on the subject of contributing to the revision of current Brazilian bioclimatic zoning. Architect and urban planner, PhD from PROPEC at UFOP in the area of thermal performance of naturally ventilated residential buildings. She has experience in evaluating the thermal and lighting performance of buildings, seals and certifications and in computer simulations for performance evaluation.

Atualmente é membro da Gestão Interna do Coletivo Formigas no Departamento de Arquitetura e Urbanismo (DAU-UFV), bem como estagiário no Grupo de Pesquisa em Construção Sustentável e Inovadora SICon, com atuação no projeto extensão SIConEX, o qual é voltado à divulgação científica e produção gráfica. Realizou também atividades como estagiário no escritório Fracto Arquitetura e Urbanismo. Além disso, possui interesses nos processos participativos de projeto, em práticas sustentáveis e energeticamente eficientes atreladas às esferas da arquitetura e do urbanismo.

  • Érica Ferraz de Andrade Souto

    Graduated in architecture and urbanism from Centro Universitário do Leste de Minas Gerais (2016), Lato Sensu postgraduate degree in Auditing and Environmental Expertise from FUNIP (Faculdade Única de Ipatinga) in 2018, currently a master's student (CAPES) at UFV (Federal University of Viçosa) in the Department of Architecture and Urbanism with a focus on energy efficiency in public lighting.

    She has experience in architectural and urban projects and was a professor at Doctum School of Architecture and Urbanism and an independent consultant in the development of energy efficiency projects in public lighting. As an intern, she participated in the PDDI / RMVA (Integrated Development Master Plan for the Metropolitan Region of Vale do Aço - MG), among other projects involving both urban and regional planning in the built environment.

    Ítalo works with the assessment of weather files for energy simulation. His thesis aims to evaluate several weather files formats regarding Brazilian climatic characteristics, such as tipical air temperatures or solar radiation, using sensitivity analysis.

  • Íris Maria Costa Fajardo Werneck Loche

    Undergraduate student, she worked with energy efficiency labeling for the residential sector, aiming to develop a simplified method based on the current labeling program, as part of the R3E partnerships. Now, she is investigating the potential of HoneyBee and its interoperability with Grasshopper and EnergyPlus to optimize the shape of dwellings, according to thermal performance parameters.

  • Jaqueline Teixeira Bousado

    Engenheira civil pela FUPAC Ubá (2019), sendo bolsista do PROUNI durante a graduação, especialista em Cálculo Estrutural e Fundações pela Unyleya (2021) e mestranda em Arquitetura e Urbanismo na UFV atuando na linha de pesquisa de Tecnologias e Aspectos Ambientais no Espaço Construído, orientada pela professora Clarissa Ferreira Albrecht. Desenvolve a pesquisa em análise de ecoeficiência em estratégias passivas ecológicas para fachadas como retrofit de edifícios educacionais no que diz respeito às emissões de dióxido de carbono, ao conforto térmico e à eficiência energética em resposta às mudanças climáticas. Possui experiência em projetos arquitetônicos, estruturais e de licenciamento sanitário e em legalizações municipais de projetos e obras. Atua como professora substituta no curso de Engenharia Civil na FUPAC Ubá. 

  • João Pedro dos Anjos Paixão

    Atualmente é Doutorando em Arquitetura e Urbanismo, com Mestrado em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa. É graduado em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Atuou como estagiário da Câmara Municipal de Viçosa. Atuou como Representante Discente no Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes da Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Formou-se no curso de formação politica da ONG RenovaBR, turma de 2019. Tem experiência na área de Ciências Sociais, Geografia e Arquitetura e Urbanismo, com ênfase em Planejamento Urbano e Ambientais.

    Mestre em Engenharia Agrícola pela UFV, é atualmente doutoranda em Engenharia Agrícola. Colaborou com pesquisas em etiquetagem de edificações residencias voltada aos sistemas de aquecedores solares de água.

  • Letícia Cazelli Pires

    Realizou ensino médio técnico em Informática no IFNMG - Campus Diamantina. Iniciou o curso de arquitetura e urbanismo em 2021 na Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Na UFV, Participa da Tetu Empresa Júnior desde 2021 e do projeto de extensão, Coletivo Formigas, desde o início de 2022. Em 2023 iniciou um projeto de pesquisa como bolsista no Latecae.

  • Liliane Fernandes Maciel

    Her Masters major was in PPGAU in 2015, where she worked with CFD in the Brise-chaminé-solar project.

    She had developed other research in Latecae from 2010 since 2015, regarding thermal comfort, energy efficiency and labeling. During under graduation, she had performed an analysis of the sensitivity of RTQ-C parameters and was funded by R3E/Procel Edifica to evaluate the energy efficiency of commercial buildings.

    She is currently the coordinator of the Architecture and Urbanism major in Faculdades Santo Agostinho in Montes Claros - MG.

  • Mario Alves da Silva

    A graduate researcher with experience in thermal and energy simulation,  performance-based design and optimization. Worked in a research about similarities of the shape of simulated building models regarding energy certifications and created with the optimization of the performance of existing buildings. Currently, he has joined a research, granted by FAPEMIG, that aims to investigate DIVA’s potential of modeling the exterior and interior shape of a building using daylight indicators and shape analysis.

  • Sabrina Andrade Barbosa

    Sabrina Barbosa is a post-doctoral researcher at the Federal University of Viçosa. Her current investigation involves analysis of application of photovoltaic systems in buildings. Dr Barbosa concluded her PhD on thermal performance of naturally ventilated office buildings with double skin façade under Brazilian climate conditions at the University of Brighton, UK. She has great experience in building thermal performance evaluation and energy simulation. Her skills includes knowledge in dynamic thermal simulation (IES VE and Energy Plus) and CFD. 

  • Skarlen Fialho Soria Galvarro

    She holds a Master's degree in Architecture and Urbanism and has carried out research in the REUNI project on Integração da eficiência energética com o ensino de projeto arquitetônico and in the CNPq-funded project  Estudo dos aspectos da radiação solar intervenientes no desempenho térmico e no conforto do ambiente construído.

  • Lorraine Vaz Pessoa dos Santos

    Undergraduate student in Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). An undergraduate researcher, she worked on the project “Simulating the thermal comfort of housing in Mozambique”, funded by PIBIC/FAPEMIG. She is currently carrying out research entitled “Performance of natural ventilation systems for cooling a school building under a scenario of climate change in Viçosa-MG”, with a PIBIC/FAPEMIG scholarship.

  • Thiago Toledo Rodrigues

    Architect and urbanist, he was an undergraduate researcher in Latecae in the project 'Minha Casa Minha Vida Sustentável', and now he is a graduate student of PPGAU/UFV. His research analyzes the thermal performance of buildings related to photovoltaics in openings: glazing and solar protections. This is part of a main project that aims to evaluate externalities in PV systems, in a partnership with Agricultural Engineering graduate Program.

  • Túlio Resende Fernandes

    Undergraduate researcher at ArqMnese, he is part of the digital modeling research project team. His master's degree dealt with augmented reality for teaching and learning in comfort and sustainability.

  • Thaís de Souza Magalhães

    Undergraduate student in Architecture and Urbanism at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). Works on the project '' Analysis of the Viability of Photovoltaic Energy in Brazil in the Face of the Regulatory Framework for Distributed Generation in the Brazilian Electricity Sector - Aneel RN 482/12 '', financed by CEMIG-D, where it assesses the potential for using BIPV systems in residences.

  • Raquel de Fátima Saith Marques

    Graduanda em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV).
